IKS4182 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The IKS4182 is an encoder cable assembled by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the IKS Encoder Cables series. This pre-terminated harness links an IndraDrive controller with a position feedback device, carrying differential signals and auxiliary power while simplifying on-site wiring. The cable provides a ready-made connection between the drive and the feedback device, which helps maintain signal integrity in automated machinery where stable encoder data is required during motion.

The cable has a bending life of 5,000,000 cycles, so it can be routed in continuously moving drag chains without premature conductor fracture. Its outer diameter of 8.8 mm helps with cable routing, tray fill planning, and strain-relief selection. A Total Shield made of foil and braid surrounds the twisted pairs to limit electromagnetic interference that could disrupt encoder signals. One end terminates in a D-Sub 15-Pin (Socket), while the opposite end is prepared for field installation. The conductor layout includes 4×(2×0.25) mm² pairs for incremental channels, along with separate power conductors of 2×1.0 mm² for sensor supply. Installation limits include a minimum fixed bend radius of 44 mm and a dynamic bend radius of 66 mm, helping protect the copper conductors and insulation during repeated motion.

Thermal endurance reaches 80 °C at the conductor, allowing operation near warm cabinet areas and other industrial equipment that generates heat. The orange RAL 2003 jacket is made of PUR, which provides abrasion resistance and tolerance to coolant splash in demanding machine environments. Its formulation is also halogen-free, which helps limit corrosive emissions during a fire. Mineral-oil resistance protects the insulation in equipment such as hydraulic presses, and the low-smoke jacket chemistry supports use in enclosed machines where clean signal transmission and durable cable movement are both important.
