IKS4131 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The IKS4131 is an encoder feedback cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the IKS Encoder Cables series. Intended for servo and spindle installations, the assembly links motor-mounted position encoders to Rexroth drive controllers. It carries differential signals and supply power through shielded conductors, while its polyurethane jacket resists cutting fluids and motion-induced stress.

For stationary routing the cable is rated from -30 to +40 °C, and in continuous motion it remains functional between -20 to +40 °C; these temperature windows define the safe ambient limits around machinery enclosures and cable chains. Mechanical endurance is specified at 5 million bending cycles, indicating suitability for dynamic axes that execute repetitive strokes. During flexing, the designer must keep the loop diameter no smaller than a 7.5 × D radius, whereas fixed routing can follow the tighter 5 × D guideline; these values prevent conductor fatigue at the copper strands. The orange PUR sheath encloses a total-shield construction that measures 9.7 mm ± 0.2 mm across, allowing sizing of drag-chain dividers, gland plates, and cable clamps without guesswork.

Signal integrity is maintained through a mating pair of connectors: the motor end terminates in a D-Sub 15-pin (pin) plug, and the controller end is fitted with a D-Sub 15-pin (socket) receptacle, permitting direct attachment to HSB, HSC, or DDS drives without adapter hardware. Inside the cable core, feedback lines are organized as 4 × (2 × 0.14 mm²) shielded pairs that carry RS422 encoder channels, while encoder supply is delivered through 2 × 1.0 mm² power conductors; this segregation keeps power transients from coupling into position data. The PUR outer jacket supports a maximum conductor temperature of 80 °C, and its RAL 2003 orange color simplifies visual tracing of feedback circuits alongside power leads.
