IKS4103 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The IKS4103 is a factory-terminated encoder cable assembly produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and supplied within the IKS Encoder Cables series. The lead is intended to link Indramat servo feedback devices to their drive controllers, transmitting differential position signals while grounding interference through its shielded construction. In industrial automation, this prewired harness speeds installation, maintains pin-to-pin consistency, and helps preserve signal integrity between a motor-mounted encoder and a cabinet-mounted controller.

The cable is classified as a ready-made control cable, meaning it ships cut to length with connectors already fitted so no on-site crimping is required. Internally, the conductors follow REG0013 for insulation, pair twisting, and the overall drain used by the encoder channels. At the controller end, the exit is angled 2 × 45°, allowing the harness to clear adjacent modules inside crowded drive racks. Signal lines terminate through the INS0760 controller plug, which uses a D-sub interface that aligns with Indramat drive feedback ports without adapters. A metal-shielded backshell encloses the insert, providing 360-degree electromagnetic screening and a continuous ground path to the controller chassis.

The molded insert inside the controller plug presents a 15-pin contact pattern that maps each differential pair and reference conductor to the drive electronics. At the motor end, conductors are landed inside a terminal box, supporting encoder replacement without cutting the cable. Individual leads are secured on a clamp terminal strip, and tinned ends are finished with a crimp to prevent strand breakage during tightening. There are 10 dedicated signal positions to match the incremental or absolute encoder used on compatible Indramat servomotors, so unused cores are not exposed.
