IKS4065 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The IKS4065 is an encoder feedback cable manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the IKS Encoder Cables series. It is deployed between measuring encoders and Indramat drive controllers, carrying differential position signals and auxiliary supply power inside a flexible jacket. By providing a dedicated connection that follows the machine path, the cable ensures reliable data transmission in automated machining centers, gantries, and packaging lines where continuous axis motion would damage ordinary stationary wiring.

With a life rating of 5,000,000 bending cycles, the IKS4065 is suited for energy-chain applications that undergo frequent linear travel. When routed in fixed installations, it may be bent down to a radius of 5 x D; during dynamic movement the minimum radius shifts to 7.5 x D, minimizing conductor fatigue. The overall outer diameter is 8.8 mm, so these radii translate to compact loop dimensions inside control cabinets. Eight signal pairs plus two power conductors are arranged in a 4x2x0.25 mm² + 2x0.5 mm² construction, and 12-pin molded connectors are fitted to both ends for direct connection. The matte, adhesion-free sheath is produced from PUR (adhesion-free, matte), resisting oil, coolant, and abrasion that are common around metalworking equipment.

Electrical characteristics match common servo feedback circuits. Each twisted control pair has a cross-section of 0.25 mm², while the dedicated supply leads provide a larger 0.5 mm² path for encoder power. The assembly is rated for continuous operation at 300 V AC, allowing shared ducting with motor phase cables when separation rules are met. Conductor insulation can withstand temperatures up to 90 °C in stationary runs and 80 °C during motion, protecting signal integrity under elevated cabinet heat.
