The IKS4037 encoder cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within its IKS Encoder Cables series. It serves as the dedicated link between servo-drive feedback transducers and control hardware, transferring position signals while simultaneously feeding auxiliary power conductors to the sensor. The cable is intended for routing inside machine tools, assembly lines, and material-handling systems where compact feedback wiring is required. By combining signal pairs, supply cores, shielding, and an industrial jacket in one assembly, it reduces installation time and helps maintain stable signal transmission in high-noise electrical environments. This arrangement also keeps feedback and sensor power conductors organized within a single cable run.

Inside the cable, 34 × 0.25 mm² control conductors carry the differential encoder channels, while a separate pair of 2 × 0.5 mm² supply cores delivers the sensor voltage. Mechanical service life is rated for 0.5 million bending cycles under moderate motion, provided that routing observes the minimum static bend radius of 7 × D. The circular envelope measures 10.2 mm over the matte orange jacket, allowing the assembly to fit standard cable chains and cabinet glands. An overall shield surrounds all cores to suppress electromagnetic crosstalk, and the construction contains no halogen or silicone to support cleanroom use and fire-safety requirements.

In dynamic applications, the flexible bend radius of 12 × D must be respected, and the product carries a Limited Use designation for drag-chain travel, so it should only be installed in short or infrequent strokes. The outer sheath is colored Orange for quick identification and is molded from PVC, giving a matte surface that resists abrasion and cleans easily. The compound withstands contact with mineral oils and greases, and the insulation system resists hydrolysis for use in humid zones. These material properties make the cable suitable for enclosed machine spaces where moisture, residue, and repeated handling are common.
