IKS4002 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The IKS4002 pre-assembled encoder cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the IKS Encoder Cables series. It is intended to connect position feedback devices to Indramat drive controllers, carrying both incremental and reference signals together with sensor power in a single run. By providing the correct mating connectors at each end, the cable reduces wiring time and ensures signal integrity in automated machining centers, material handling lines, and other motion-control installations. Its electrical layout supports the 1Vss sinusoidal encoder format commonly used on MSK and MHD servo motors.

The bulk cable designation INK0720 sets the conductor size, insulation thickness, and impedance for low-noise transmission. An overall diameter of 9.7 mm permits routing through standard energy chains without overfilling. The braid-and-foil construction is classified as a Total Shield, limiting electromagnetic interference that could distort position data. Signal conductors are organized as 3 x (2 x 0.25 mm²) control pairs, while drive supply for the encoder is provided by 2 x 1.0 mm² power cores. Together these dimensions balance flexibility with the current required by optical or inductive transducers.

The polyurethane jacket is colored orange to RAL 2003 for fast identification and resists oils and coolants encountered in machining cells. Conductor heating is limited to 80 °C, enabling continuous duty without insulation fatigue. Installation can follow cable-tray contours because the fixed bend radius is only 5 x D, and dynamic motion applications are supported down to a flexible radius of 7.5 x D. When equipment is stored or transported, the assembly remains pliable to -20 °C, and it continues to operate up to +40 °C without derating. Mating plugs INS0761 and INS0639 are factory-crimped to eliminate field terminations.
