IKS0721 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The Bosch Rexroth Indramat IKS0721 cable belongs to the IKS Encoder Cables series and is intended to connect motor-mounted encoders to drive controllers in automated machinery. By combining feedback conductors and auxiliary power cores inside one flexible assembly, it carries position data with low noise and simplifies wiring in moving axes such as gantries, pick-and-place arms, and tool changers. This arrangement helps keep feedback and supply lines together in one routed cable, which reduces clutter in machine sections where repeated motion and limited space can make cable management difficult.

To withstand dynamic routing, the cable endures 5,000,000 bending cycles when placed in energy chains. Its architecture follows the Encoder (Total Shield) format, and an overall braid encases four individually shielded control pairs specified as 4x(2x0.25 mm²) to limit crosstalk in differential encoder channels. Two 1.0 mm² supply cores share the bundle, giving a total of ten conductors for feedback transmission and auxiliary power delivery in one assembly. A PUR jacket protects against abrasion while keeping the outside diameter to 8.8 mm, so the cable fits compact drag-chain compartments and remains suitable for routes that require repeated flexing.

The sheath compound is halogen-free, minimizing corrosive fumes during a fire, and its surface is marked RAL 2003 orange for quick identification next to power lines. Conductor insulation remains stable up to 80 °C, which supports reliable operation near warm servo motors and other enclosed machine areas where heat can build during continuous duty. The outer material resists mineral oils and greases, allowing installation in lubricated slides, hydraulic stations, and other oil-rich zones.
