IKS0618 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The IKS0618 encoder cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the IKS Encoder Cables series. Designed as a feedback link between servomotor encoders and drive controllers, the cable transmits position signals with good noise immunity so motion axes in automated stations stay synchronized. It is intended for installations where accurate encoder feedback must remain stable near power wiring and other sources of electrical interference.

Its signal conductors follow a 5xAWG21 + 57xAWG25 arrangement, mixing larger conductors for supply lines with many fine strands for data pairs to keep resistance low while preserving flexibility. The jacket is molded from PUR, a thermoplastic polyurethane that withstands abrasion and most coolants without becoming brittle. Beneath the sheath, a Total Shield of braided copper and foil blocks electromagnetic interference so encoder pulses are not distorted by motor switching transients. With an overall diameter of 13.0 mm, the cable fits standard M23 molded connectors without overcrowding cabinet cable trays. When laid in a stationary harness, the fixed-installation bend limit is 15 × D, so routing must maintain enough radius to reduce conductor fatigue.

The outer covering is colored Orange (RAL 2003) to match Rexroth safety wiring codes, and its material blend is inherently hydrolysis-resistant, which helps prevent moisture-triggered cracks in humid plant areas. The surface also provides extensive resistance to hydraulic oils, so the cable can tolerate contact with common industrial fluids. Because drag-chain cycles accelerate jacket wear, this model is not suited for drag-chain use and should be routed in fixed ducts or secured runs instead. Halogen-free and silicone-free construction avoids corrosive combustion byproducts and silicone residue in sensitive production spaces.
