IKS0308 by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The IKS0308 encoder cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the IKS Encoder Cables series. It is intended to connect SSI or incremental encoders to drive controllers, carrying differential position signals while maintaining noise immunity across moving axes in automated machines. By combining power conductors and twisted signal pairs in one assembly, the cable simplifies routing between feedback devices and cabinet-mounted controls.

Internally, the conductors are manufactured to Class 6 (extra fine-stranded) geometry, so the cable withstands continuous motion without work-hardening. The signal section uses a 4 pairs layout in the 4x2x0.25 mm² twisted groups, while two 1.0 mm² power cores bring the total conductor count to ten. A Copper braid surrounds the core bundle, providing low-impedance shielding against EMI and supporting reliable encoder feedback over long runs. On the controller side, a 12-pin round screw (socket) connector is pre-assembled, which removes field termination steps and preserves the required pinout for Rexroth drives. Even with this hardware, the assembly maintains an 8.8 mm overall diameter that fits standard drag-chain separators and helps with routing in tight spaces.

The flame-retardant outer sheath is orange PUR and meets EN 60332-1-2 reaction-to-fire requirements, so it helps contain ignition sources inside electrical cabinets. Oil splash in hydraulic zones is tolerated because the material also satisfies EN 60811-2-1 for mineral-oil resistance. Electrical insulation integrity is verified for a maximum working potential of 300 V, enabling shared routing with low-power resolver lines. When the cable is fixed, the system remains functional down to -50 °C. In dynamic applications, it is specified for service from -30 °C to 80 °C, allowing use in indoor or outdoor stations without additional heating or cooling accessories.
