The Bosch Rexroth Indramat IKS0223 belongs to the IKS Encoder Cables series and is supplied as a ready-made feedback link for synchronous and asynchronous drive systems. Positioned between a servo motor's encoder and the drive controller, the cable carries differential position, reference, and supply conductors with controlled impedance so that motion control processors receive clean signals. By combining flexibility with electrical shielding, the assembly supports automated lines where axes move continuously inside energy-chain carriers and accurate feedback is critical for closed-loop regulation.

Internally, the orange sheath encloses a 4x2x0.25 mm² twisted-pair group for data and an additional 2x0.5 mm² power pair, which helps keep crosstalk low under high-frequency switching. Mechanical endurance is rated for 5,000,000 bending cycles, making the cable suitable for continuous reciprocating travel. Because the assembly is rated for drag-chain use, this service life applies when it is installed in gliding or rolling carrier tracks found in modern machining centers. A stationary installation may bend to 5 x D, while moving applications must observe 7.5 x D. Even with these tight bend radii, the round profile measures 8.8 mm in nominal diameter, so multiple feedback and power lines can share the same tray without exceeding fill limits.

The outer sheath uses PUR that is adhesion-free and matte, allowing easy sliding inside plastic guides while resisting cuts and solvents. Its RAL 2003 (Orange) color makes the cable easy to identify in crowded cable runs. On the control end, termination is handled by a D-sub 15-pin crimp plug, and the motor side uses a clamp terminal with ten contacts. The insulation system supports up to 300 V, and its oil-resistant formulation helps prevent swelling or dielectric loss when the cable passes near gearboxes and hydraulic manifolds.
