The IKS0196 is an encoder feedback cable produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and belongs to the IKS Encoder Cables series. It routes position signals between servo motors and drive controllers in automated machinery, maintaining signal integrity while flexing inside energy-guiding chains. Stable encoder transmission helps the connected drive respond accurately to changing motor position during rapid axis movement. The cable is intended for continuous motion environments where precise feedback must be preserved despite high mechanical stress, making it a critical interconnect in assembly lines, packaging cells, and other dynamic industrial installations.
The cable is rated for 5,000,000 bending cycles in a drag-chain, so frequent reciprocating motion will not fracture its conductors. Those conductors follow a 4x2x0.25 mm² + 2x0.5 mm² layout that separates differential pairs from the power lines to limit crosstalk. The overall diameter is 8.8 mm, and it is manufactured to a tolerance of ±0.3 mm, which supports predictable clamping and gland selection. A halogen-free PUR outer jacket shields the core bundle from oil, abrasion, and cutting fluids, while its bright RAL 2003 orange color improves traceability in crowded wiring troughs. The design is approved for drag-chain use and incorporates four twisted pairs to balance impedance across feedback channels. The jacket also moves smoothly through guide channels, which helps reduce sticking during repeated travel.
Mechanical life under cyclic load indicates durability, while the electrical and thermal limits govern installation practices. The cable carries control signals across 10 cores, and each conductor is insulated for control potentials up to 300 V. The allowable conductor temperature is 90 °C when fixed and 80 °C during flexing. Routing must respect a static minimum bend of 5 × D, while dynamic cable chains require 7.5 × D to reduce copper fatigue. Proper routing also helps the cable move cleanly through carriers and limits strain at termination points.
