The IKS0182 encoder cable belongs to the IKS Encoder Cables series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. It links motor-mounted incremental or absolute encoders to a drive controller so that position, velocity, and diagnostic data reach the control loop without delay. Designed for moving-axis installation, the cable supports frequent flexing inside energy chains and along robot wrists while maintaining electrical shielding and strain relief. Its polyurethane jacket, multi-core geometry, and molded connectors create a signal path that resists oil, coolant, and mechanical abrasion common in automated machining centers.

For permanent routing the cable tolerates a fixed ambient range of -40 to +80 °C, allowing installation in chilled warehouses or near warm process equipment. During dynamic duty its construction endures 5,000,000 bending cycles, so signal fidelity is preserved throughout a typical machine life. A molded D-Sub socket with 15 contacts mates directly to the controller, and the cores use solder terminations to secure each conductor. Power conductors inside the bundle are rated for 300 V, so encoder supply lines can share the same harness instead of requiring separate cabling. When the harness travels on gliding tracks, it requires a minimum dynamic bend radius of 7.5 × D to prevent conductor work-hardening.

Torsional movement is also addressed; the assembly accepts rotations of ±180°/30 cm, accommodating swivel axes without jacket tearing. The rear clamp secures outer diameters from 4.8-11 mm, minimizing stress at the solder joints when the cable is pulled. Its jacket formulation is halogen-free, reducing corrosive gases during an arc or fire and supporting installations in enclosed cabinets. The design is drag-chain-rated, so repeated sliding acceleration does not compromise shielding or impedance.
