The IKG4050 motor power cable is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the IKG Motor Power Cables series. Intended for servo and spindle connections in automated machinery, this cable transmits three-phase power along with auxiliary signals between the drive controller and the motor. It is engineered for dynamic routing in cable carriers common to multi-axis systems and supplies the voltage and auxiliary lines needed to keep motion equipment energized and monitored during continuous industrial service. Its combined conductor layout also helps reduce the number of separate cable runs around moving axes, which keeps routing more compact in machines with limited installation space.
The copper power cores are sized at 4x1.5 mm², providing sufficient cross-section for low-loss delivery of up to 600 V AC as recognized by UL. A separate twin-pair of control conductors, marked 2x(2x0.75 mm²), carries brake or sensor signals in parallel with the mains lines. The overall outside diameter is 12.2 mm, which influences filling ratios in energy chains. DC resistance is limited to 13.3 Ohm/km, so voltage drop remains moderate on typical axis lengths. These electrical values, combined with cable shielding, help maintain stable current flow and minimize electromagnetic interference inside tightly packed automation cabinets. Because the cross-section is balanced across four cores, symmetrical current distribution helps keep conductor heating predictable during repetitive acceleration cycles.
Additional transmission characteristics include a mutual capacitance of 0.8 nF/m, which supports accurate drive modulation at high PWM switching rates. When installed statically, the cable can be bent to 5 x D, while dynamic routing in drag chains requires a minimum loop of 7.5 x D. The PUR outer jacket is adhesion-free and matte, colored RAL 2003 orange for quick identification inside machine frames. Continuous operation at conductor temperatures up to 90 °C is permitted, and the design is approved for drag-chain use to withstand millions of cycles without jacket cracking. The low-stick jacket surface also helps the cable move more freely beside neighboring runs in a carrier, which supports smoother travel during repeated machine motion.
