DM 004K 3301-D by Bosch Rexroth Indramat

The DM 004K 3301-D is a compact servo drive from Bosch Rexroth Indramat in the DM Servo Drives series and is intended for closed-loop motion tasks on packaging lines, pick-and-place modules, and other automated axes. The unit processes velocity and position commands from a digital motion controller over a SERCOS interface and converts them into controlled stator currents that energize synchronous motors. By integrating the power electronics and fieldbus interface in one 6 kg housing, it simplifies cabinet layouts while maintaining coordinated multi-axis performance.

For power conversion, the drive rectifies the mains and maintains a regulated DC link of 670 VDC, with an allowable unregulated rise to 715 VDC during light-load or braking events. From this link, it generates a sinusoidal three-phase 400 V output. At the factory-set switching frequency of 8 kHz, it can deliver a peak phase current of 6.6 A for acceleration and a continuous current of 0.8 A. The 24 V control supply draws 0.89 A for logic, gate drivers, and fans. Motion commands arrive through the SERCOS setpoint channel, while high-resolution position data are accepted through a 1 MHz incremental encoder input or a 50 kHz sine encoder input for precise current control.

The enclosure is rated at IP20, so it must be installed inside a protective panel with forced ventilation. Under nominal operating conditions, the inverter dissipates 96.5 W, a value used for cabinet cooling calculations. Panel airflow must remove this heat continuously during normal operation. It can modulate the motor frequency up to 800 Hz, allowing direct control of high-speed spindles without gear reduction. Mechanical resilience is shown by a shock tolerance of 15 g, which supports installation on vibrating machinery. The 6.0 kg mass helps keep cabinet mounting straightforward in standard industrial enclosures.
