The Rexroth/Indramat DDS Drive Series is a modular system that allows for flexible combination of AC servo and main drives into a single compact unit, using a single supply unit. This modular design enables the creation of a basic drive unit that can be customized to meet specific automation control needs by installing various option interfaces. The firmware determines the functions of the drive, and the part number of the DDS02.1 and DDS03.1 drives indicates the specific options available, such as cooling type (external, internal, or liquid), power rating (15-200 amps), feedback type (digital servo or resolver), and interface options (analog, Interbus-S, Single-axis position control, or SERCOS). The DDS drives feature ports for installing custom communication modules or auxiliary modules. The U1 port is for command communication modules, while U2, U3, and U4 ports on DDS02.1 drives are for auxiliary modules. The DDS03.1 drive has a communication port and only one U2 auxiliary port. The software module is installed at the top of the drive in the U5 slot, and the firmware module is separate from the main unit. Firmware updates are continuous, and the version number on the firmware module may increase over time.
