B&R Automation manufactures the 8LVA23.B8013D008-0, a three-phase synchronous motor in the 8LVA Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. Designed for closed-loop control, it translates electrical commands into precise mechanical rotation. This supports accurate positioning for pick-and-place heads, indexing tables, and other automated axes across industrial assembly and packaging lines. In normal servo operation, the motor works with the drive to correct small position deviations during acceleration, deceleration, and load changes.

The drive has a nominal speed of 1300 rpm and maintains positioning accuracy within ±120 arcsec, allowing consistent motion profiles at moderate rotational rates. Heat is removed through self-cooling, so no external fan or liquid circuit is required. Feedback is supplied by an EnDat 2.2 inductive encoder that supports single-cable safety telegrams, and the design supports Functional Safety for use in SIL-rated cells. To reduce electromagnetic coupling, motor power and sensor signals exit through separate encoder and power connectors. The encoder is not battery backed, and the motor is supplied without a holding brake, so static holding must be provided by the machine when the axis is at rest. Mechanical dimensions correspond to motor size 2 with a length code of 3, which keeps the housing compact while supporting medium-load drive applications.

A smooth shaft interface couples directly to clamp or keyless hubs, and wiring is routed through a built-in double angular connector that can swivel for stress-relieved cable installation. Position data is digitized at a resolution of 19/0 bits, and the encoder is single-turn with a rated revolutions value of 1. The unit belongs to the 8LV servo motor product line and does not include an oil seal. Because of that layout, it is better suited to clean, dry areas where rapid cabling and low-wear operation are preferred. The connector arrangement also helps route power and feedback leads separately in compact machine spaces.
