The 8LSN57.EA022D100-0 is a synchronous servo motor produced by B & R Automation and assigned to the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. It serves as the rotary actuator in automated production lines, supplying controlled torque and speed to indexing tables, pick-and-place modules, and other electromechanical axes where deterministic motion is required. In closed-loop motion systems, it supports repeatable positioning and stable speed control during cyclic machine operation. This type of motor is commonly paired with a servo drive that regulates current, speed, and position in real time.

The motor's mechanical interface uses a mounting flange with a diameter of 142 mm, giving a standardized surface for rigid, vibration-limited attachment. Power and feedback conductors exit the housing through an angled swivel connector, and the angled connection direction helps route cables in shallow cabinets. That arrangement also helps reduce cable bend stress near the motor housing. Heat is removed by the stator's own mass through self-cooling, so the motor operates without external fans. Inside the encoder compartment, rotor position is reported by an inductive EnDat sensor running version 2.1, so high-resolution feedback reaches the drive controller over a bidirectional serial link. The rated speed is 2200 rpm, and length code 7 identifies the stack height used for that operating point. This version is supplied without a holding brake and without an oil seal.

The shaft end is supplied with a key, preventing slip between the motor and the driven element. That arrangement is suited to couplings and driven components that rely on positive torque transfer. Electrical commutation follows three-phase synchronous operation, and single-cycle position data are available at a resolution of 19/0 bits for single-turn feedback. The 8LSN designation indicates the normal-inertia variant, and the motor does not use multi-turn counting, which simplifies zeroing after power-up.
