The 8LSN56.D0020D600-0 synchronous motor is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. Under the internal designation 8LSN, the unit is engineered as a three-phase actuator that converts electrical power into precise rotational motion for positioning and process control tasks in automated machinery. It is suitable for axes that require stable speed control, repeatable positioning, and smooth torque delivery during cyclic operation. When paired with a compatible servo drive, the motor supports closed-loop operation that helps maintain position accuracy as load conditions change. By providing controlled output in a compact motor format, it fits assembly cells, packaging lines, and material-handling systems that run for long periods.
With a rated speed of 2000 rpm, the motor can sustain mid-range surface velocities while remaining within drive inverter frequency limits. The mounting interface uses a 142 mm square flange, and the length code 6 housing works with self-cooling to dissipate heat during continuous operation. Position feedback is supplied by an optical EnDat encoder, and the communication layer follows version 2.2 for absolute position data exchange over a single-cable interface. This arrangement supports high-resolution loop closure, reduces separate feedback wiring, and helps the controller track rotor position directly after power-up. The motor is suited for servo applications that require consistent motion quality over extended operating periods.
Power and feedback leads exit through an angled swivel connector that helps keep cables clear of adjacent axes and supports cleaner routing in confined machine spaces. The output side has a smooth shaft protected by an oil seal, which helps prevent lubricants from entering the stator cavity and supports cleaner operation around the bearing area. Because a holding brake is not present, static load retention must be provided by the drive or by external clamping devices when the axis is stopped. The encoder operates in single-turn mode and delivers 25/0 bits of single-turn/multi-turn resolution, which suits point-to-point indexing duties in standard applications. This layout is useful where the machine already uses a separate holding method and where cable routing space is limited near the motor body.
