The encoder also has a multi-turn capability of 4096 revolutions, which allows absolute position tracking over repeated shaft turns without battery backup and supports applications that need retained position data after shutdown. Because an oil seal is not present, the shaft area should be protected from fluid ingress during installation, especially in machines where splash, coolant, or process contamination may reach the motor face.
