B&R Automation manufactures the 8LSA84.E1030D200-0, a three-phase synchronous motor in the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. Designed for flange mounting on a machine frame, the motor converts drive-inverter output into precisely controlled rotary motion. It is intended for industrial automation axes such as packaging stations and pick-and-place units, where repeatable movement is required throughout each operating cycle. This makes it suitable for controlled positioning and synchronized machine motion.
With a flange dimension of 240 mm, the motor fits large frames while still allowing direct coupling to gearboxes. Its rated speed is 3000 rpm, so position loops can close quickly without overspeeding standard mechanical transmissions. Position feedback comes from an optical interface with EnDat 2.1, which transmits absolute position data to the drive over a bidirectional serial channel. Inside the encoder, single-turn resolution reaches 13/12-bit for fine interpolation, and the multi-turn counter covers up to 4096 revolutions, which removes the need for homing after power loss. That combination supports absolute feedback for both shaft position within one turn and accumulated travel over many turns. The length code 4 stator section and the 8LSA designation indicate a standard construction without reinforced bearings, and the motor attaches through a flange that matches ISO mounting patterns.
Cabling enters the housing through an angled swivel connector, which helps simplify routing in tight cabinets, and all power and feedback lines terminate on a coded connector shell. Heat is removed by self-cooling with free air circulation, so no external blower or liquid circuit is required. The motor includes a standard holding brake to secure the load when the DC bus is disabled. This is useful on vertical axes or in applications where the load must remain in place after power is removed. It also uses a smooth shaft for clamping-hub connections, and because there is no oil seal, the application must keep fluids away from the shaft exit.
