The 8LSA73.DB030S200-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor from B & R Automation in the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. It converts servo drive current into controlled rotational motion for precision axes in packaging, assembly, and material-handling equipment. In automated systems, this supports repeatable acceleration, deceleration, and holding behavior during positioning tasks. That makes it suitable for axes that must start and stop frequently without losing positional stability. Its standard 8LSA configuration suits applications that require accurate speed control and consistent dynamic response without reinforced bearings.
The motor reaches a rated speed of 3000 rpm, allowing fast axis movement while remaining within continuous-duty operation. Position feedback is provided by an Inductive EnDat encoder, and EnDat 2.2 support lets the drive receive digital sensor data and electronic nameplate data over the same channel. The encoder channel supports closed-loop control with continuous feedback to the servo drive during motion. Thermal energy is removed by self-cooling through free circulation, so no external fan or liquid circuit is required, and separate cooling connections are not needed at the machine. A square mounting face with a 190 mm flange dimension aligns the motor with machine frames, and a standard holding brake holds the load when power is removed. The motor also uses length code 3, product revision 3, and flange mounting.
Power and encoder signals leave the housing through a single-cable hybrid solution, which reduces cabinet wiring and keeps motor connections compact. Using one hybrid cable can simplify routing through moving cable tracks and reduce the number of connection points at the motor housing. The output side uses a smooth shaft, making the motor suitable for backlash-free clamp couplings where an oil seal is not required. Absolute feedback includes multi-turn memory for 4096 revolutions, and the feedback system provides 19 single-turn bits and 12 multi-turn bits of position resolution. The absolute encoder data lets the control system retain position information across multiple shaft turns.
