The 8LSA54.R0022D100-1 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. Designated 8LSA, the unit follows the standard configuration without reinforced bearings and is intended for servo axes that demand consistent torque and speed in automated machinery. By integrating directly with drives and motion controllers, the motor converts three-phase electrical power into rotary motion for positioning tasks on packaging lines, gantries, and material-handling stations. It is suited to closed-loop motion systems where repeatable acceleration, steady running speed, and predictable shaft response are required.
The motor's flange face measures 142 mm, so it mates with gearboxes or frames that share this mounting circle. A rated speed of 2200 rpm is the nominal operating speed when the stator windings receive rated frequency and voltage from the drive. Heat is removed through self-cooling with free air circulation around the housing, eliminating the need for an external fan or liquid loop. This cooling method keeps the installation simpler and leaves more room around adjacent components. Rotor position feedback is delivered by a resolver, allowing the control loop to calculate speed and angle under harsh electrical noise. Positional accuracy is limited to 10 arcmin, which suits general motion sequences in assembly or conveying equipment. Length code 4 indicates the stack depth, and the motor has no oil seal, so additional protection is needed in areas with splash exposure.
Cables exit through angled connectors that swivel to relieve strain and simplify routing in compact cabinets, and the mating side uses a standard industrial connector housing. This layout can help where the motor is mounted close to guards, frames, or other equipment that limits cable bend space. The motor installs by a mounting flange, so no foot hardware is required. Because there is no holding brake, vertical axes must rely on external braking or drive torque to maintain position when power is removed. A shaft with a key provides positive mechanical locking and helps prevent slip when transmitting torque to couplings or pulleys. The motor does not use reinforced bearings, which suits applications with moderate radial loads.
