B & R Automation's 8LSA44.R2045D100-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor from the 8LS Synchronous Motors series, intended for direct integration with B&R AC servo drives. The 8LSA configuration identifies the standard version without reinforced bearings, giving the unit a favorable mass-to-power ratio for packaging equipment, electronic assembly lines, and material-handling axes. As the primary rotary actuator, it converts drive current into controlled mechanical motion so coordinated multi-axis positioning can be maintained in automated production stations. This motor type is suited to applications that require repeatable speed and position control across multiple axes.
The motor delivers a rated shaft velocity of 4500 rpm, which is its rated continuous speed under suitable ambient conditions and drive current. A square 100 mm flange provides the main locating surface and aligns the stator concentrically with the load shaft. Thermal energy is removed by self-cooling through free circulation, eliminating auxiliary blowers and simplifying the surrounding installation. Rotor position is reported by a resolver, providing analog sine-cosine feedback that resists electrical noise in high-speed environments. Power and signal leads exit through an angled swivel connector that can rotate to ease cable routing on moving carriages. This connector arrangement is useful when the motor is mounted in tight spaces or on axes with frequent cable movement. Additional identifiers, including length code 4 for the stator stack and product revision 3, help match the motor with the correct drive parameters without changing the mechanical envelope.
For moderate-accuracy tasks, the motor limits mechanical backlash to 6 arcmin, which suits feeders, indexers, or light pick-and-place heads. The motor has no parking brake, so static holding torque must be supplied by the drive amplifier or by external clamps when power is removed. The shaft is supplied with a key, enabling direct coupling to gear hubs, pulleys, or rigid couplings. The motor uses a mounting flange for installation, and because no oil seal is installed, the mounting location should be kept free of pressurized fluids to reduce the risk of contamination inside the motor.
