The 8LSA44.R0022D100-0 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B&R Automation as part of the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. In automated cells, it converts drive current into regulated rotary motion for indexing tables, gantry axes, and similar position-controlled equipment. As a synchronous motor, it is intended for use with a compatible servo drive that regulates current, speed, and position during motion sequences. The design follows standard 8LSA construction for general-purpose industrial automation that needs accurate feedback, compact mounting, and passive cooling.

Rated operation is based on a speed of 2200 rpm, which suits direct coupling to medium-inertia loads. The motor has a 100 mm flange that forms the square interface against machine frames. Thermal regulation relies on self-cooling by free circulation, so heat moves through the aluminum housing without auxiliary blowers. Rotor position is captured by a resolver, which provides sine-cosine feedback for closed-loop control. Wiring leaves the stator through an angled connection, and the swivel fitting directs conductors toward the cable tray. The keyed connector carries both power and feedback and helps reduce cabling errors.

The mechanical interface uses a mounting flange and a keyed shaft end to transfer torque into couplings without slip. Position repeatability is maintained within 10 arcmin, which aligns with the resolver feedback arrangement. The stator stack uses length code 4, and the 8LSA configuration keeps weight lower with standard bearings and no holding brake. Because no oil seal is fitted, the motor should be installed away from heavy coolant splash. The absence of a holding brake means the axis must rely on drive torque or external mechanics when load retention is required at standstill. The standard 8LSA version does not use a reinforced bearing, so it is intended for general-purpose axes rather than applications with unusually high radial loads.
