B & R Automation manufactures the 8LSA35.R0030C000-0 as part of its 8LS Synchronous Motors series. The unit is a three-phase permanent-magnet servo motor intended for axis drives in packaging, material-handling, and general motion systems where compact size and repeatable speed are required. It integrates with the ACOPOS drive line through a single-cable interface, allowing closed-loop torque and position control in distributed industrial automation networks. This type of motor is suited to applications that require controlled acceleration, steady running speed, and accurate stopping behavior over repeated cycles.
The 8LSA designation indicates a standard build with no reinforced bearing, while the cabling exits through a straight top connector that mates to a standardized connector shell for power and feedback conductors. This arrangement keeps the cable outlet aligned with the top of the housing for straightforward routing. Cooling relies on self-cooling by free circulation, so airflow around the housing is sufficient for thermal dissipation at the rated operating point. A flange diameter of 91.3 mm establishes the mounting pattern against gearboxes or machine frames. Rotor position is measured by a resolver, providing analog sine-cosine signals to the drive for commutation even under noise or temperature extremes. The rotor can reach a synchronous speed of 3000 rpm, and there is no integrated holding brake, so external locking devices are necessary for vertical axes when power is removed.
A smooth shaft simplifies coupling to backlash-free clamping hubs, and motion repeatability is rated at 10 arcmin for moderate-precision pick-and-place tasks. The motor bolts directly to a mounting flange, matching IEC dimensions used on standard machine interfaces. This face-mount arrangement supports direct attachment to machine plates or adapter faces. Its electrical behavior follows a three-phase synchronous configuration, so sinusoidal drive currents are required for optimal torque production. Length code 5 indicates a taller active stack, giving higher continuous torque than shorter variants without increasing the flange footprint. There is no oil seal at the shaft exit.
