The 8LSA35.EB030D100-3 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B&R Automation for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. As a rotary actuator, it converts electrical energy into precise mechanical rotation for positioning, conveying, or feed-axis tasks in industrial automation lines. It uses a three-phase synchronous design, so the rotor follows the stator field closely for stable speed and accurate motion control. This operating principle supports repeatable movement on packaging, transfer, and indexing axes where commanded position and velocity must stay closely aligned. It is intended for applications that need controlled acceleration and smooth rotational response.
The motor reaches a rated speed of 3000 rpm, which sets the continuous operating speed for programmed motion profiles. Position feedback is supplied by an inductive EnDat encoder that communicates through Version 2.1 protocol for digital data exchange with the drive. The encoder provides 19 bits of single-turn resolution and supports multi-turn measurement over 4096 revolutions, allowing fine position interpolation and continuous turn tracking across repeated cycles. Because the feedback remains absolute over many turns, the axis can retain position information after a power interruption without depending on a battery-backed counter in the control system.
Cooling is handled by a self-cooling system with free air circulation, so no external fan or liquid circuit is required. Power and feedback conductors exit through an angled swivel connector, which helps route cables in compact machine layouts and reduces strain where clearances are limited. Installation uses a mounting flange with a face size of 91.3 mm, and the shaft end is keyed for positive torque transmission to the driven load. The standard connector interface keeps electrical hookup compact at the motor housing while allowing practical cable orientation. The configuration uses the standard 8LSA version without a reinforced bearing, with length code 5 and product revision 3. The motor is supplied without a holding brake and without an oil seal, so any parked-load retention or protection against fluid ingress must be provided by the surrounding machine design.
