The 8LSA35.EA030D100-3 synchronous servo motor is manufactured by B & R Automation and is part of the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. Designed for industrial automation, the unit converts commanded currents into controlled mechanical motion so that packaging machines, pick-and-place modules, and material handling systems can position loads with repeatable accuracy. Its 8LSA configuration means the rotor runs on standard bearings without additional reinforcement, keeping inertia low for general-purpose axes.
This motor uses a three-phase synchronous design, enabling a constant electrical angle between the stator field and rotor magnets during operation. A rated mechanical speed of 3000 rpm allows direct coupling to ball screws and belt transmissions. Thermal dissipation relies on self-cooling through free circulation, so no external blower or liquid circuit is required when airflow is adequate. The mounting face has a flange dimension of 91.3 mm, and the stator body is built to length code 5, which indicates the active stack height inside the housing. Power and feedback leads exit through an angled connection with a keyed circular connector, simplifying cable routing inside tight machine frames. The motor uses a mounting flange and a keyed shaft end to transfer torque, and because an oil seal is not present, the installation must remain free of pressurized lubricant.
The feedback system integrates an inductive EnDat encoder that communicates with the drive using the digital EnDat 2.1 protocol. Its single-turn measurement provides position information with 19/0 bits of resolution, supplying 19 bits for absolute angle while omitting multi-turn counting. The motor supports precise commutation without an internal battery. Because a holding brake is not present, vertical axes must secure loads through external clamps or active servo torque during power loss. Product revision 3 identifies the revision level of the motor, and the encoder's single-turn capability keeps homing cycles brief while avoiding long-term counter drift.
