B&R Automation manufactures the 8LSA34.DA030S000-3 for the 8LS Synchronous Motors series. This three-phase synchronous motor is intended for positioning and velocity control in assembly lines, packaging cells, and other industrial automation axes that rely on precise electrical torque instead of mechanical gearing. It is suited to servo-driven machinery where repeatable speed regulation and accurate shaft positioning are required over frequent start-stop cycles. The design follows the standard 8LSA configuration and does not include a reinforced bearing, allowing direct mounting to a machine frame through its integral flange.

The motor reaches a rated speed of 3000 rpm, which matches many servo inverter outputs and supports fast axis motion. A flange dimension of 91.3 mm sets the interface size for torsion-resistant attachment to the machine plate. Electrical power, feedback, and safety signals are routed through a single-cable hybrid solution that terminates in a compact connector, reducing wiring complexity. Motion feedback is handled by an inductive EnDat encoder that operates with EnDat version 2.2, and its digital word provides 19/0 position bits, with 19 single-turn bits and no multi-turn bits. The length code 4 housing encloses the stator stack used for medium torque in this frame size.

The motor uses self-cooling with free air circulation, so heat is removed through the aluminum housing fins without an external blower or coolant. External fins increase surface area for passive heat dissipation during continuous duty. The motor is revision 3. The unit has no holding brake, so any static load must be secured by the drive or by an external clamp during power-off conditions. A smooth shaft end simplifies coupling to backlash-free clamping hubs, and the lack of an oil seal lowers drag when the motor is installed in clean, dry enclosures.
