The 8JSA62.EA015D024-0 synchronous motor is supplied by B&R Automation within the 8JS Synchronous Motors series. It serves as a controlled torque source for automated pick-and-place axes, indexing tables, and other motion tasks that require coordinated drive control. Its synchronous design supports accurate speed regulation and repeatable positioning when paired with a compatible servo drive. The unit uses motor length 2, which gives it a stack depth and continuous torque rating suited to medium-duty axes.
During operation, the motor reaches a nominal speed of 1500 RPM, allowing direct coupling to gear stages or loads designed for standard industrial velocities. Heat produced in the stator is removed by self-cooling, so no external blower or liquid circuit is necessary. Rotor position feedback is generated by an inductive EnDat 2.1 encoder, which is a single-turn system that provides absolute position data over one mechanical revolution with a resolution of 19/0 bits S/M and an angular precision of ±180 arcsec. Because only one revolution is encoded, the motor reports position within one turn after each power cycle without referencing. The motor does not include a holding brake, so the application must rely on drive torque or external clamps to hold position when power is removed. No oil seal is integrated, so the machine must provide sealing if fluid exposure is expected.
Mechanical integration is simplified by an angled swivel connector at the rear housing, which allows power and signal cables to exit in a rotated orientation that keeps harnesses inside the machine envelope. This connector layout can also reduce cable bending near the housing in compact machine spaces. The stator flange follows the IEC pattern and supports flange mounting, so the motor can be fastened directly to gearboxes or precision frames without adapter plates. A smooth shaft is provided for couplings that clamp on the journal rather than rely on keys, which can help reduce backlash in servo loops. The shaft form is suited to clamp-style couplings used on precise servo axes. The motor uses motor size 6, making it suitable for mid-size automation cells.
