The 8I74T400400.0P-000 is an inverter module manufactured by B&R Automation for the 8I7 ACOPOS Inverters series. The unit forms the power stage between the plant's three-phase supply and a servo motor, modulating voltage and frequency so that motion controllers can adjust speed and torque in automated machinery. Used with Powerlink networks, the module supplies adjustable AC to actuators in packaging, material-handling, and process equipment, allowing precise control while integrating safety features such as braking energy dissipation.

Rated output power equals 4.0 kW, giving sufficient margin for medium-size conveyor or pump drives. At the terminals, the inverter can deliver a nominal current of 9.5 A, while an internal EMC filter limits conducted emissions to simplify cabinet wiring. The drive synthesizes frequencies up to 599 Hz; this extended range supports high-speed spindles or over-synchronous applications. Control electronics are fed from an external 24 VDC supply that maintains parameter memory and fieldbus communication when input power is off. Operation on a three-phase supply allows symmetrical loading, and a minimum braking resistor value of 36 ? ensures safe energy dissipation when the built-in dynamic brake transistor activates.

During short accelerations, the inverter withstands a peak of 15.7 A for two seconds and 14.3 A for one minute, providing extra torque without thermal overload. Shielded motor leads may extend to 50 m, or 100 m when unshielded, so cabinet placement can match layout constraints. The controller supplies 3 analog inputs, 6 digital inputs, and two relay outputs for local I/O handling. Its Powerlink interface is Type 2, supporting deterministic cyclic data exchange with higher-level controllers while maintaining the specified cable lengths and current limits.
