B & R Automation's 8EI2X2MWS10.0400-1 is a servo drive from the 8EI Servo Drives series and fits into the ACOPOS P3 8EI platform used across its motion control range. In industrial automation, the unit translates high-level speed or position commands into regulated motor currents for closed-loop axis control. This allows machine axes to follow programmed trajectories with stable speed response and repeatable positioning under changing mechanical loads.

The drive accepts supply inputs at 3x 200-230 VAC or 1x 110-230 VAC, so it can operate from either three-phase factory mains or a single-phase service feed without hardware changes. This input flexibility can simplify integration in smaller machines and in installations where available power varies by cabinet or axis group. Its continuous motor output is rated at 2.2 Aeff, which is the maximum RMS phase current it can supply continuously without thermal derating. This safety method interrupts torque production directly and supports fast shutdown behavior when hazardous motion must be removed. For multi-motor layouts, the platform is available as a three-axis module, which allows similar system architecture across different axis counts. Field wiring is streamlined by a single-row connector set, reducing cabinet depth and keeping plug orientation straightforward, while no plug-in module included means the base unit is delivered without an additional option card.
