B&R Automation builds the 8EI1X6HWS10.0600-1 servo drive for the 8EI Servo Drives series in the ACOPOS P3 8EI platform. The module delivers closed-loop control for a single mechanical axis, converting three-phase mains power into regulated motor current for positioning tasks in packaging, printing, and assembly equipment. Installed in a multi-axis cabinet, it exchanges motion commands with the central PLC while monitoring braking energy and integrated safety functions. Because the control and power sections are combined in one housing, the axis can be deployed as a dedicated cabinet module instead of a larger centralized drive section.

The power stage accepts a line supply of 3x 200-480 VAC, allowing the same hardware to operate in both 230 V and 400 V facilities. Continuous phase output is limited to 1.6 Aeff, matching low-power servo motors where temperature rise must remain within insulation limits. Mechanical installation uses wall mounting, and the vertical heat sink supports natural convection without extra ductwork. An internal braking resistor absorbs regenerated energy during rapid deceleration, which helps the drive handle short stopping cycles without separate external hardware. Personnel protection is provided by hardwired STO safety technology with encoder feedback that removes drive torque on demand. Field wiring terminates in a 1-row connector set, so preassembled harnesses can plug in quickly and keep cabinet wiring orderly.

The drive has a front cover that shields live parts and guides airflow across the fins. The electronics follow the standard module option profile for this series, so the basic hardware configuration is fixed at the factory. The unit is delivered without a plug-in module, so any added I/O or bus interface must be provided through separate accessories. This base configuration keeps the drive focused on core axis control while leaving expansion functions to separate modules.
