The 8EI017HWSS0.0700-1 servo drive is produced by B&R Automation for the 8EI Servo Drives series. Within an ACOPOS P3 8EI architecture, it serves as a single-axis power stage that converts line voltage into controlled power for motor torque and velocity loops. By coordinating with a motion controller, the unit governs positioning, speed, and acceleration tasks in packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and other industrial automation cells that require deterministic motor behavior. Its control stage regulates motor output continuously so commanded moves can remain stable during acceleration, constant-speed travel, and deceleration. This operating role allows one axis to follow programmed motion while remaining synchronized with other machine functions.

During operation, the drive supplies a continuous phase current of 17 Aeff, allowing it to energize mid-range servomotors without entering overload. It accepts a mains input of 3x 200-480 VAC, so the same hardware can be installed on low- or high-voltage industrial power systems without tap changes. The integrated SafeMOTION package works with a digital encoder channel to monitor speed and position and to issue certified stop or limited-torque states when safety logic demands. An internal braking resistor dissipates regenerated energy during rapid deceleration, eliminating the need for an external braking module in most applications.
