The 8EI017HWD10.0200-1 is a servo drive module produced by B&R Automation for the 8EI Servo Drives series. In a machine cell, it links the mains supply to the motor windings, shapes current, and monitors feedback so that axes follow commanded positions with tight speed regulation. By integrating power electronics and control logic, it replaces separate amplifiers and helps make multi-axis automation cabinets more compact while keeping control and power functions in the same housing. This arrangement supports precise motion control on packaging, assembly, and material-handling equipment where synchronized axes are required.

It operates from a three-phase input of 3x 200-480 VAC, allowing deployment on common factory supply grids. The continuous output capability is 17 Aeff, so paired motors can draw sustained current without thermal derating under nominal conditions. Because the hardware is a 2-axis module, two motor channels are contained in one unit and share a common DC link, saving panel space where coordinated motion is required. Functional safety is integrated through hardwired STO safety technology with an encoder, which removes torque in less than a millisecond when the external circuit opens. For cabinet wiring, a Connector Set 1 with a one-row plug is fitted, while the unused two-row set is omitted. Installation is by wall mounting, which lets the heat sink breathe behind the cabinet.

The drive has no internal braking resistor, so braking energy must be routed to an external resistor or returned to the DC bus. The delivered unit carries the standard module option, which means it is supplied without custom add-ons or plug-in expansion boards beyond the standard configuration. A front cover is included to shield live parts at the front of the unit. This keeps the module layout straightforward for use in compact multi-axis cabinets.
