The 4PP280.1043-K01 operator panel is built by B & R Automation as part of the 4PP Power Panels series. It serves as a combined HMI and control front end, occupying minimal cabinet depth while exposing Ethernet and serial links for integration with PLC networks. In production lines and packaging machines, the panel allows operators to issue commands through function keys or a resistive touch surface, observe process graphics on the color display, and store recipes on a CompactFlash card without opening the enclosure.

The display area measures 10.4 in (264 mm) on the diagonal and renders graphics at 640 × 480 pixels. Illumination reaches 350 cd/m², and image differentiation is supported by a 600:1 contrast ratio, ensuring legible visualization under factory lighting. The front bezel provides IP65 (NEMA Type 4X) protection, so the screen, the 12 LED-backlit function keys, and the 10 LED soft keys resist washdown spray and airborne dust. Operators interact through analog resistive touch technology, which registers gloved contact and avoids capacitive false triggers in humid environments. A Type I CompactFlash slot allows removable data storage, and two USB 1.1 Type A ports accommodate service tools or other compatible devices.

Internal electronics run from a 24 VDC ±25% supply, and the unit draws a maximum of 25 W, permitting direct connection to common control-cabinet power buses. Processing tasks are handled by a Geode SC2200 CPU clocked at 266 MHz, giving sufficient performance for local logic, trend recording, and alarm handling. Communication with higher-level controllers occurs through a 10/100-Base-T interface rated at 10/100 Mbit/s, and an RS232 9-pin D-Sub port is present for legacy devices. The panel's sealed front face, analog touch system, and LED-illuminated keys maintain operability in temperature-controlled industrial enclosures while delivering quick access to machine functions.
