ZK7208-AW00-A030 by Beckhoff

The ZK7208-AW00-A030 is a motor cable manufactured by Beckhoff for the ZK Motor Cables series. It links servo axes to drives and I/O nodes, carrying supply power and EtherCAT P communication so that motion devices receive energy and fieldbus data through one cable. By combining power conductors, signal pairs, and protective earth in a single molded assembly, the product simplifies routing inside industrial automation cabinets and along moving machinery. The integrated design also reduces the number of separate connections required between compatible devices.

The device-end connector uses a 5+4-pin layout that separates power and signal groups, while its mating face provides 4 + PE (5) dedicated power contacts for motor current. The cable supports system voltages up to 630 V AC/850 V DC, allowing it to serve inverter outputs and high-voltage DC links. At an ambient temperature of 40 °C, it conducts up to 16 A continuously without exceeding the permissible conductor temperature. Its IP65/IP67 ingress protection guards the assembly against dust, water jets, and temporary immersion when the connectors are properly mated. Mechanical coding index 1 and the B17 installation size help prevent cross-connection with other Beckhoff hybrid cable lines. The keyed plug mates only with a compatible receptacle, reducing the risk of an incorrect connection during installation.

The copper power cores have a cross-sectional area of 1.5 mm² to limit voltage drop along distributed drive systems. The data conductors have a cross-sectional area of 0.34 mm² (AWG 22), supporting the electrical characteristics required for EtherCAT P communication. The interface includes four EtherCAT P signal pins for differential communication channels. Its hybrid configuration provides 2 × 24 V DC + PE for auxiliary control power and a common protective-earth connection. The molded backshell provides strain relief where the cable enters the connector, helping protect the internal conductors during repeated movement. This arrangement is suitable for routing on linear tracks or robotic cable carriers where the cable may be exposed to regular bending and vibration.
