ZK7208-3031-A020 by Beckhoff

The ZK7208-3031-A020 is a preassembled motor cable manufactured by Beckhoff for the ZK Motor Cables series. It combines drive power conductors with EtherCAT P signal lines in a single jacket, reducing wiring volume in control cabinets and along moving machine axes. The assembly links servo drives to rotary or linear motors while carrying an auxiliary power supply and deterministic fieldbus data required for synchronized motion in industrial automation. Its combined cable design also reduces the number of separate connections needed between compatible drives and motors.

Inside the cable, the power branch uses two 24 V DC conductors plus protective earth, providing auxiliary voltage leads and a dedicated grounding path for peripheral loads. Digital communication travels on twisted pairs with a cross-sectional area of 0.34 mm² (AWG 22), which supports low attenuation across high-frequency EtherCAT signals. The motor phase cores have a cross-sectional area of 1.5 mm², allowing continuous energy transfer without excessive resistive heating. The insulation and conductor spacing support a maximum system potential of 630 V AC or 850 V DC, allowing the cable to operate in inverter and DC-link applications. An outer PUR sheath with molded gaskets provides an IP65/IP67 protection rating, preventing dust ingress and withstanding water jets found in packaging and food-processing equipment.

The connector has an installation size of B17, allowing the overmolded circular plug to seat directly on compatible Beckhoff servomotor ports. Its face contains 4 + PE (5) power contacts, and the cable can carry up to 16 A at 40 °C without derating. The connector also includes four dedicated EtherCAT P contacts for the differential transmit and receive pairs used in deterministic network communication. The power cores are colored gray, green/yellow, black, blue, and brown, making the individual conductors easier to distinguish during installation and maintenance.
