KL9260 by Beckhoff

The KL9260 is an I/O power-supply terminal manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the KL Analog Input Modules series. Mounted beside signal slices on the DIN rail, it injects auxiliary mains power into the backplane contacts and forwards diagnostic bits to the PLC. This module is used in distributed control panels to furnish a separate high-voltage branch for actuators while maintaining continuous K-bus communication with the rest of the analog or digital terminals in the string.

It accepts a line supply of 120/230 V AC, so the same unit can operate on North American or European mains without rewiring. The internal conductors sustain up to 10 A continuously, and overloads are limited by an integrated fuse rated at 6.3 A. One additional feed-through contact is present; this extra circuit is identified by a count of 1 and lets installers daisy-chain power along the terminal row. The polyamide housing occupies only 12 mm of rail width, conserving cabinet space in densely packed racks. Because no shield connection is provided, external cable screens must be grounded elsewhere in the control enclosure.

Operational feedback is conveyed through two front indicators: a Green power LED that confirms mains availability and a Red defect LED that signals fuse interruption. In cyclic data exchange the terminal occupies a compact image width of 2 Bits, just enough to report fuse status and acknowledge power readiness, which conserves controller memory. The electronics draw only 10 mA from the K-bus, minimizing loading on the coupler and leaving reserve current for downstream analog modules.
