KL4032 by Beckhoff

The KL4032 is an analog current terminal produced by Beckhoff for use with industrial control systems. The module provides a two-channel current interface between the terminal-bus backplane and connected field devices. It converts digital control data from the controller into regulated analog current for actuators and other equipment that uses standardized current signaling. Its compact terminal housing plugs directly into a compatible bus coupler and shares power, status indication, and diagnostic connections with neighboring modules.

The terminal provides 2 independent current channels, each capable of delivering an output range of ±20 mA to a connected load. Signal conversion is handled by a 12-bit converter, which divides the full current span into 4,096 discrete steps for repeatable analog control. The module occupies a 2 × 16-bit process image in the controller memory, providing a separate output word for each channel. Its electronics receive operating power from the system power rail at 24 VDC, so a separate supply is not required for the terminal electronics. Status LEDs provide a visible indication of operating conditions, while diagnostic data can be accessed through the connected control system.

The housing measures 15 × 100 × 70 mm, allowing multiple terminals to be installed together without requiring excessive cabinet space. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail and supports a variable installation position, allowing horizontal or vertical orientation. The terminal has an IP20 protection rating, so it must be installed inside a suitable control cabinet or protective enclosure. Proper ventilation around the installed terminal helps dissipate heat while preserving access to wiring points and status indicators. Channel performance is maintained when the connected loop resistance remains below 500 ?, allowing the terminal to reach the required current across compatible industrial loads.
