KL3362 by Beckhoff

The KL3362 is a two-channel analog input terminal manufactured by Beckhoff for the KL Analog Input Modules series. It conditions signals from full-bridge strain gauges and forwards the digitized measurements to a higher-level controller in a distributed I/O system. Direct integration of load cell feedback on the DIN rail simplifies force, weight, and torque monitoring in industrial automation. The terminal can support measurement tasks in packaging scales, presses, assembly equipment, and other systems that rely on accurate bridge-sensor data.

The terminal provides a conversion depth of 24 bits, allowing it to resolve small changes in bridge voltage during load cell measurement. Its measurement front end accepts full-bridge strain gauge sensors and supports four- or six-wire configurations. The six-wire arrangement compensates for lead resistance, helping preserve measurement accuracy when sensors are connected through longer cables. The module has two galvanically isolated input channels, allowing it to capture signals from paired jacks or differential web-tension systems without requiring additional I/O width. Its IP20 enclosure rating provides protection against contact with internal components and solid objects larger than 12.5 mm. The terminal is intended for installation in a closed control cabinet that protects it from dust, moisture, and other contaminants.

Logic power and peripheral power are supplied through the K-Bus, which also transfers digitized measurement values to the Beckhoff controller. This arrangement avoids separate power connections for the terminal and maintains communication with adjacent terminals in the I/O station. The module mounts on a standard 35 mm DIN rail, allowing it to be installed with other control and measurement terminals inside the cabinet. Its variable installation position supports horizontal or vertical cabinet layouts without requiring a different module format. Several terminals can be grouped closely on the rail while retaining direct access to the field-wiring points. The consistent terminal layout also keeps K-Bus routing aligned throughout the assembled I/O station.
