The module communicates through the PROFIBUS system and maps its channels to a process image containing four input bits and four output bits. Output power is supplied from the plant bus at 24 VDC, while each input draws only 6 mA, reducing the load on connected proximity switches. A built-in input filter with a response time of 3.0 ms suppresses contact bounce so the controller receives stable state changes. Additional M8 screw-in signal connectors provide secure field connections and help reduce assembly time. A short-circuit current limit of 1.5 A works with the electronic protection to interrupt faults quickly. The outputs have a load current draw of 20 mA per channel, providing a consistent value for sizing the bulk power supply. An internal isolation barrier keeps the connected input and output circuits electrically separate from the PROFIBUS master, preventing noise from the sensor side from propagating onto the fieldbus.
