The IL2300-B510-0000 is a coupler box unit manufactured by Beckhoff for the IL Coupler Box Units series. It serves as a decentralized I/O station that links machine-mounted sensors and actuators to a higher-level controller through the CANopen fieldbus. By concentrating discrete signal wiring in a molded polyamide housing, the coupler reduces cabinet load and supports fast installation directly on conveyor frames, robots, or tooling fixtures in industrial automation lines.

Communication is handled by the CANopen fieldbus protocol, while local expansion is provided through the IP-Link interface so that additional I/O modules can be attached without extra gateways. The device provides 4 digital inputs for sensor feedback and 4 digital outputs for actuator control, each wired through 8 mm snap-on connectors that minimize assembly time. The enclosure has an IP65/IP66/IP67 protection class, and the electronics are further encapsulated in polyurethane potting compound to block moisture. Mechanical fastening is achieved with two M3 mounting holes molded into the body. Internal metal parts are made of nickel-plated brass, and the spring contacts use gold-plated CuZn to maintain low contact resistance. The rectangular enclosure stands 175 mm high, measures 30 mm wide, and is only 26.5 mm deep, allowing installation in narrow machine channels. Up to 120 extension boxes can be chained behind the coupler through the IP-Link connection, supporting large distributed systems without requiring network segmentation. The unit does not provide programmability, so all logic execution remains in the central PLC, which treats the coupler as a remote I/O node. Its compact shape allows the signal connections to be positioned close to sensors and actuators, helping reduce long individual cable runs. Nickel-plated brass hardware, durable contacts, and polyurethane potting help preserve electrical integrity under vibration and during washdown cleaning cycles.
