EL9400 by Beckhoff

The EL9400 power feed terminal is produced by Beckhoff for the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. As a supply module, it introduces a new 24 V power source into an EtherCAT segment and routes that voltage to downstream I/O devices while maintaining the E-bus communication path. The component is used wherever a long terminal string needs an additional infeed point so that distributed sensors, actuators, and logic modules continue to receive a stable supply.

The incoming control voltage is 24 VDC, and the internal power contacts can carry up to 10 A to adjacent terminals without additional wiring. The E-bus supports a maximum output of 2 A, keeping the communication line and integrated electronics within their allowable load limits. An enclosure classification of IP20 provides protection against finger contact but not against dripping water, making the terminal suitable for installation in a closed control cabinet. For electromagnetic compatibility, the terminal conforms to EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4, allowing it to operate near industrial noise sources without functional degradation. No electrical rail contact is provided, so the supply is isolated to the spring-clamp connectors on the terminal face.

The terminal has one additional power contact that links the refreshed supply to the common 0 V line, and a PE connection provides protective grounding. A locking clip supports snap-on installation over 35 mm steel or aluminum DIN rail tracks. Its variable installation position allows the unit to be mounted horizontally or vertically without derating. Mechanical integrity under dynamic loads complies with EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27, covering the vibration and shock encountered in machine frames. The renewed infeed function is enabled, but the terminal does not include an onboard diagnostic channel, so its status must be determined through upstream control logic.
