EL9210-0018 by Beckhoff

The EL9210-0018 power supply terminal is produced by Beckhoff as part of the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. It delivers conditioned auxiliary voltage to downstream nodes while passing the fieldbus through unchanged, so distributed I/O stations can be segmented without external wiring blocks. Within an industrial automation cabinet, the terminal occupies a single slot and provides fused protection, status indication, and ground continuity for 24 V control circuits that feed sensors, actuators, and compact drive controllers.

The terminal accepts a nominal control voltage of 24 V DC, which is the reference level it distributes to connected loads. Each power contact can carry up to 10 A, allowing sizable current reserves for parallel devices on the same rail. Internal electronics draw only 90 mA from the EtherCAT E-bus, so the module places a minimal burden on the upstream coupler. A replaceable fuse rated at 6.3 A limits the outgoing branch current and isolates faults before upstream components are affected. The housing meets protection class IP20, which restricts use to closed electrical enclosures where accidental contact with live parts is prevented.

Only 2 bits are required in the process image, with one used for status and the other used for error acknowledgment, so PLC memory consumption is negligible. The variable installation orientation allows the terminal to be mounted horizontally or vertically without derating. The terminal has 1 additional power contact that extends the supply rail to the next terminal. Its Renewed Infeed function reinjects the 24 V line after a galvanic separation point. Diagnostic data are forwarded because diagnosis in the process image is enabled. The E-bus is looped through for uninterrupted communication, while an error LED provides local fault signaling. A PE contact bonds the protective earth, and no dedicated mounting rail connection is needed beyond the standard DIN foot.
