EL9210 by Beckhoff

The EL9210 is a power distribution terminal manufactured by Beckhoff for the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. Within an EtherCAT slice I/O system, it delivers power to downstream electronics while forwarding process data to the controller. By integrating fused power contacts and onboard diagnostics, the module helps protect low-voltage devices installed in machine control cabinets and enables supply faults to be monitored through the control system.

The terminal is rated for a nominal voltage of 24 VDC, so it connects directly to a common control-level power rail in industrial automation. Its process image occupies 2 bits; one bit reports the power state, and the other reports a fuse error, allowing the PLC to react promptly to supply faults. A fine-wire fuse rated at 6.3 A is installed on the positive line and interrupts overloads. The diagnostic bit PowerOK combines fieldbus feedback with visual status information. The Power LED glows green during normal operation, while the Error LED lights red if the fuse trips. The housing requires no dedicated ventilation because it is designed for convection inside control cabinets. Its IP20 protection class is suitable for cabinet environments where exposure to dust and fluids is controlled.

Up to 10 A can flow through the power-routing contact without passing through the branch fuse. The terminal provides one additional power contact for a supplementary conductor, allowing power to be routed to another connection point. The module snaps onto a 35 mm mounting rail and uses spring terminals for the supply wiring. Its terminal group includes two +24 V connections, two return connections, and two protective-earth connections. A protective-earth contact is present for grounding, and the module may be installed in different mounting positions. The six-terminal housing maintains consistent spacing with adjacent terminals in the EL series, supporting orderly assembly within the I/O station.
