EL9190 by Beckhoff

The EL9190 terminal is a passive supply module produced by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. It interrupts the power rail, reestablishes supply lines, and maintains the protective earth path inside an EtherCAT I/O station. Installing this module allows separate voltage groups to be created or feed lines to be restarted without rewiring the entire bus. Fieldbus communication continues through the terminal while the power contacts are segmented. This arrangement is useful in control cabinets that contain multiple load groups with different supply requirements.

The module attaches to a 35 mm DIN rail compliant with EN 60715, providing a standard mounting method for cabinet installations. Its internal copper path supports a maximum line voltage of 230 V AC/DC. The supply passes through a single power blade rated for up to 10 A for downstream terminals. A protective earth spring maintains continuity through the terminal group. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, helping prevent accidental finger contact with internal electrical parts when the terminal is installed in a closed enclosure. Power is introduced through one additional power contact, which allows an isolated feed to create a separate voltage group along the EtherCAT terminal strand. The terminal does not have a dedicated mounting rail connection clamp and instead uses its standardized snap-fit mounting arrangement.

Communication remains active because the E-bus loop-through connection is internally bridged, allowing process data to pass through when the supply rail is divided. The module supports renewed power infeed, permitting a fresh voltage supply to be applied to the power contacts after a break point without affecting upstream nodes. Its housing allows side-by-side mounting with power contacts, and it can also be installed beside terminals without power contacts on the opposite side. This flexibility supports mixed terminal group orientations in cabinets with limited installation space. The absence of diagnostic circuitry and a power LED means that voltage presence must be checked through an external monitoring device. Supply status can therefore be supervised by the controller or by separate cabinet instrumentation.
