EL9186 by Beckhoff

The EL9186 is a power-feed terminal manufactured by Beckhoff for the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. It occupies a single slot in an EtherCAT I/O strand and injects auxiliary supply voltages onto the backplane so that downstream modules receive stable logic and field power. By combining power distribution and bus participation in one slice, the unit streamlines cabinet layouts and supports compact machine controllers used across automated production cells.

With a compact housing that measures 15 mm in width, 100 mm in height, and 70 mm in depth, the terminal leaves space for neighboring slices on the rail. Eight additional power contacts traverse the body and connect to corresponding front terminal points, allowing the module to energize multiple downstream channels. Each channel shares a positive power-contact polarity and is wired without a protective-earth pin, making the arrangement suitable for floating 24 V control circuits. The feed path can carry up to 10 A, enabling sizable sensor clusters to operate before a new supply segment is required. Its IP20 protection rating makes the terminal suitable for installation inside an enclosure that prevents accidental contact with internal components.

In plant cabinets, the unit snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail and connects to the system bus through the standard EtherCAT backplane. Voltage between any power contact and ground is limited to 60 V DC or 30 V AC, so higher potentials must be isolated elsewhere. Operation is permitted at a relative humidity of up to 95 % without condensation, covering most conditioned manufacturing facilities. Coded spring terminals provide secure front wiring and help organize incoming voltage connections to field devices. The terminal's narrow profile allows power distribution to be added without consuming the cabinet space required by a wider standalone distribution block. Its backplane connection also lets the module remain aligned with adjacent EtherCAT terminals while distributing low-voltage power through the I/O strand.
