EL9182 by Beckhoff

The EL9182 is a power distribution EtherCAT terminal manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. In an automation line, the module introduces multiple isolated supply groups into the I/O strand while passing internal E-bus signals to downstream stations. By integrating power routing with continuous fieldbus communication, it saves cabinet space and reduces wiring time in control panels where compact, DIN-rail-mounted components are required.

The housing is 12 mm wide, allowing sixteen supply connections to be installed without requiring substantial rail space. An isolation rating of 500 V separates the potential groups from the control electronics, limiting cross-fault energy between field circuits. Each power contact can carry up to 10 A, allowing the unit to feed sensors, valves, or small drives directly from the I/O node. The operating voltage is limited to 60 VDC, making the terminal suitable for common 24 V or 48 V plant supplies. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating, providing finger-safe terminals for use inside closed switchgear while relying on cabinet airflow for cooling.

The terminal provides 16 connection points that are internally organized into 8 separate potentials. Each potential group has 2 connection points, allowing incoming and outgoing conductors to be looped without external jumpers. The module snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail and can be installed in any mounting orientation, simplifying installation in densely populated enclosures. Spring-cage plug-in contacts provide secure field wiring and maintain connection stability under vibration. Power-contact and E-bus feedthroughs keep downstream terminals energized and addressable. The design tolerates ambient relative humidity of up to 95 percent when condensation is prevented.
