The EL3062-0030 is an analog input EtherCAT terminal manufactured by Beckhoff for the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. Installed next to other slice I/O modules on a DIN rail, it digitizes low-level sensor voltages and delivers the resulting data to a controller across the deterministic EtherCAT backplane. This module serves applications that require compact data acquisition inside control cabinets and machine bases.
The terminal provides two independent voltage channels that share a common shield terminal. Each channel is quantized with 12 bits of resolution, providing 4,096 discrete steps for engineering scaling. Conversion is synchronized with the bus cycle every 0.625 ms, enabling the capture of trends in fast process variables. Before digitization, an analog filter limits the effective bandwidth to 1 kHz to suppress high-frequency noise that could cause aliasing in the data stream. The internal electronics draw 130 mA from the E-bus, so no external auxiliary supply is required. The field wiring has a maximum dielectric strength of 40 V, which provides protection against typical wiring errors or transient overvoltage events in industrial environments.
Signal acquisition uses a multiplexed scanning method, which sequentially routes the inputs through a shared converter to maintain channel-to-channel consistency. All measurements use a single-ended ground reference, simplifying connections to sensors that share a common reference potential. The housing has an IP20 rating, providing protection against contact with hazardous internal components when the terminal is installed inside a control cabinet. Sample values are placed in the process image as 16-bit integers, matching the Beckhoff default format for signed data. The terminal can be mounted in any installation position without derating. It does not support distributed clocks and does not store CoE parameters, making the controller responsible for timestamping and configuration during analog data acquisition.
