The Beckhoff EK EtherCAT Coupler Series (EK Series) offers an extensive range of couplers specifically created to facilitate smooth integration of EtherCAT Terminals into EtherCAT networks. Acting as the bridge between EtherCAT protocols and the terminals, these couplers convert telegrams transmitted through the 100BASE-TX Ethernet infrastructure into E-bus signals suitable for terminals. The series includes various coupler versions, each featuring unique characteristics tailored to specific applications. For instance, the standard EK1100 comes equipped with two RJ45 connectors for network interfaces, plus an option for adding extra devices, accommodating up to 65,535 terminals in a system with node distances up to 100 meters. The EK1101 variant includes three hexadecimal ID switches for flexible topology configurations, allowing users to allocate unique IDs to terminal groups at preferred network locations. Additionally, the EK1101-0010 model extends maximum node spacing to 300 meters using Extended Distance mode on both ports, significantly broadening EtherCAT network coverage.
